Knits using Wabi Sabi Yarns

As I have the time, I will begin posting some of the wonderful works other knitters and myself have created using Wabi Sabi Yarns.  This particular shawlette is the beautiful Arabella pattern from Knitting Kninja.

It was knit using WSY Koala MCN fingering in a OOAK colorway, Caramel.  Knit by the talented Limejuicy and then gifted to ME!  What a sweetheart!

In other Boulder-ish WSY news, the WSY-mobile rolled into a ditch while photographing cute little farm animals.

Some of you are already aware of this misfortune, but someone suggested to me that this was a bloggable event, so here it is.  ;o)  Silly me, in my fervor to capture a pic of the inter-species animal family down the road (seriously, it’s the cutest thing…2 goats, 1 donkey, 1 broken-down mare, and a horse roaming the huge pasture in one tight little pack), I forgot to put my car in park and ran across the street to snap, snap, snap.  I then turned around to head back to the car just in time to see it roll into the ditch.  With the dogs in the back.  Nobody was hurt, not even the car, but the dogs looked a bit alarmed.  During the 2 hours I had to wait for a tow and the police to swing by and make sure that I wasn’t intoxicated, at least 20 friendly Boulderites stopped by to see if I was o.k.  And the postal delivery woman even came by and gave me a couple of Dove chocolates.  I must have really looked pathetic out there in the freezing cold and was so touched at all the help my extended Boulder family offered.  Finally got pulled from the ditch, got a cold for a day but knocked it out with bucket-loads of anti-oxidants, and all’s well that ends well.  Car fine.  Dogs fine.  Me fine.  Inter-species animal family fine.

In other Boulder news, we’ve been battling yet another wildfire.  It was pretty thick with smoke and ash yesterday, but the firefighters (oooooo firefighters!) seem to have gotten a handle on it overnight and we are hoping that the winds do not pick up today so that they can put the darn thing out.  Thankfully, it has been burning in our public Open Space land and from what I understand no structures or people have been hurt.  It is uncomfortably close to downtown though, this fire is lower in elevation than the last one, right on the foothills.

These pics are from yesterday and today is much better…a clear day from what I can see so far.

That’s it for now folks.  I’m off to the post office with your packages then back home to dye, dye, dye!  :)

Be well,

Lisa

UPDATE! UPDATE! UPDATE!

Wabi Sabi Yarns Store update ready to go. Store will be open at 10:30pm MST…6 minutes. http://wabisabiyarns.bigcartel.com/

Wabi Sabi Yarns survey to bring you your fave yarns! Plus Stitches West and more!

Hello knitters and spinners!

Yes, it’s been a long time and the shop is indeed *nearly* complete.  I truly hope it will be functioning within the next 2 weeks as my designer and I have been on a roll, and I have lots of perdy yarns to upload for you!  Above is a sneak peak of things to come.  (and look for new hand-painted spinning fiber in December!)

WSY Latest News:

In between working on the site, WSY has been laying the floor for a new dye studio.  Literally.  On November 15th new flooring will be put down which is very exciting, and we have high tech matting to protect it, because if there is one thing I LOVE to do is make a mess while dyeing.  Seriously.  Being covered in dye brings great joy to me and puts a grand smile on my face.  :D   We are still working out of the home with the garage converted to a photography/inventory/packing studio, and the kitchen being the dye studio which is gradually being moved to another part of the house.  We will be installing a double utility sink, burners so that the kitchen burners may be reclaimed and cooking may again resume.

WSY has begun working with an AMAZING “business therapist” who will help guide WSY along its path and I couldn’t be more thrilled.  We will also be hiring a part-time assistant once the flooring is down and the studio renovations are complete, because this small operation is in desperate need of one.

And finally, WSY will be at Stitches West again!!!!!  I absolutely CAN NOT wait!  It was so much fun last year and I can’t wait to see you all again!  If anyone is interested in volunteering at the booth, please contact me.

Oh yes, and WSY is finally on Facebook!  I believe it will be a much easier platform for me to maintain as far as the latest WSY news and such, so come on over and join the party!

I think that’s about it, folks.  Continue to keep an eye out for that update because it’s-a-comin’.  :D

New Yarns for Sale THIS WEEK!

Dear friends,
I sincerely apologize for my recent abense.  My webdesigner and I are diligently working on getting the website shop up and running.  However, in the meantime I have been able to refill my creative gas tank and have several beautiful new colorways to offer to you!Since a launch date for the shop is as yet to be determined, I wanted to be able to offer the newest latest and greatest Wabi Sabi yarns and colorways to my treasured, loyal and talented knitters via this newsletter.  My plan is to send out another newsletter towards the end of this week with lovely photos of the latest WSY creations for direct sale through the newsletter (although, I have another idea that might make it even easier).  Details to follow in the next newsletter, so please keep your eyes open for the “Sale” newsletter to follow later this week.

Thank you once again and wishing you a peaceful and joyous Autumnal Equinox and Harvest Moon filled with wonder and awe!

Warmly and with gratitude,
Lisa

Fall update rescheduled for 9pm MST

Hi everyone,

I needed to push back the time a little bit in order to get a couple of more things done like photos and whatnot. And more importantly, to go over the Rewards info thoroughly and email members with their earned credits well before the update, which I am working on as we speak.

So the update is being pushed from 5pm MST to 9pm MST. I hope that also is of some help to our friends overseas. :)

Latest yarns, Rewards, answers to emails, and other news...

Hi Everyone,

Here is a quick peek at the latest Gousha yarns posted recently to the Etsy site:

There are still a few skeins left so if you see something you like, grab it while you can as these Gousha’s are all OOAK (One-of-a-Kind).

The Rewards program quarter is coming to an end June 30th, so if you need to earn any more Rewards points to bring up your total points, now is the time to do so.  I am still in the process of tallying all your points and getting this information to you, but not to worry…you still have until July 31st to redeem these points and I promise you will be taken care of.

For the next quarter, beginning July 1, 2010, there will be some changes to the Rewards program which will be sent to all Rewards members and posted to the Rewards page on the website.

My web designer and I are *still* working on getting the online shop up and running for you, and it shouldn’t be much longer.  Right now my parents from Joisey are in town, so I have had to table my attention to this project for the duration of their visit and look forward to hopping back on it as soon as is possible.  We are now aiming for a July Wabi Sabi Yarns website shop launch! Wheee!

As many of you know, I have had to simplify my operations in order to focus on the main objective which is creating the most beautiful yarns for your knitting pleasure and having them delivered to your doorstep in a timely fashion.  In order to achieve this goal, I must limit the time I devote to email interactions.  As much as I would adore and thrive on talking with my hand-made loving, knitting sisters and brothers, I am finding that it is not possible to do so while at the same time being able to produce the yarn you all desire.  So I ask that in the future, please read the FAQ section for answers to your most common questions.

Thank you for your assistance in making Wabi Sabi Yarns work for you.

Patterns created using Wabi Sabi Yarns

I wanted to show you some pics of some beautiful patterns created by Debbie O’Neill using Wabi Sabi Yarns.

The first is the War of the Roses shawlette knit in Wabi Sabi Yarns Tallulah Sock in the Orchard colorway.

Also created for The Knitter’s Luxury Sock Club is a gorgeous sock pattern by Debbie O’Neill called Stacia Socks using my exclusive colorway “Not Your Ordinary Bird” on the Tallulah Sock Base.  I believe Judy of The Knitter may well have some of these yarn + pattern kits still available and can be reached by emailing judy@theknitter.com.  Both the pattern and the yarn are exclusive to The Knitter’s club for a limited time and will be available to the public within a few months.
